Progressives based in Manila, Italy, Seattle, Chicago, San Fransisco, Portland, Sydney, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Guatemala, Canada, and Hong Kong took to the streets to denounce the wide-scale death, destruction, and bloodshed created by the US-instigated wars.
“The US government is an economic terrorist. We are not enemies of the people of the US, but we condemn the crimes of the US government.”
Soleimani’s assassination clearly has no basis in any rhetoric of “self-defense” from the Pentagon. He was another casualty in an effort by the US to exert political control in the region, and assert dominance over its sphere of influence.
“Trump thinks that a war with Iran will work in his favor. He overestimates US capacity and grossly underestimates global resistance to US imperialism.”
On November 10, Bolivian President Evo Morales was forced to resign by a coup. Since then, progressive organizations worldwide have launched an international campaign to expose the violence against the indigenous people in Bolivia. Bayan emphasized the connections between the struggle of the national minority in the Philippnes and Bolivia.
Naturally, Trump has elevated the discourse yet again. From distilling current events he is now creating it as US President. Now, he’s not just using the power of capitalism to wrestle; he’s the world’s champion of the global imperialist system.
The contributions of the Movement for Socialism (MAS) – under the leadership of Evo Morales – enjoys enormous support from the indigenous population and the working class of Bolivian society. Its contributions to the political and economic advancements of Bolivia through the painstaking economic and cultural empowerment of indigenous people and workers is well known and is inspiring, especially at this time of neoliberal attacks on the world’s working people.
One of the supreme ironies in the history of protest movements is the fact that Chile, a US laboratory for covert action and direct military aggression is also the place in which the slogan “¡El pueblo unido, jamás será vencido!” (The people united will never be defeated) originates. It is chanted by peoples in protests and meetings which honor revolutionary international solidarity.
The real underlying cause of deaths in epidemics is the dysfunctional health care system brought about by chronic socio-economic underdevelopment characteristic of a semi-feudal and semi-colonial society victimized by imperialism, not the loss of vaccine confidence due to the “Dengvaxia scare”.
We can only cringe at the US-Saudi imperialist war machine’s audacity to make us believe that we are all hapless victims on the same side. The price of oil is controlled by the global oil cartel.
“[The ILPS is]…a reliable force of the people of the world in their struggle for greater freedom, democracy, social justice, all-around development and international solidarity against imperialism and all reaction.”
