Kilusang Mambubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP or Peasant Movement of the Philippines) Chair and Anakpawis (Toiling Masses) Rep. Rafael Mariano welcomed the leaders and members of Kalipunan ng Samahang Mambubukid ng Kabite (Kamagsasa-Ka or Federation of Peasant Associations in Cavite), a chapter of KMP, at the House of Representatives this afternoon when they arrived from their march from the Department of Justice to signify their protest against political repression and the proposed extension of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

Imelda Lacandazo, KMP National Vice-Chairperson and Secretary General of the Katipunan ng mga Samahang Mambubukid ng Timog Katagalugan (Kasama-TK, KMP Southern Tagalog chapter), said that CARP has been, “the milking cow of landlords, corrupt government officials, and pseudo-farmer organizations.”

Lacandazo said many of their members have been displaced for pushing for the Genuine Agrarian Reform Bill (GARP). “We want to put a gravestone to CARP, it is already dead since last June 10, there is nothing to extend because the law is dead,” noted Lacandazo.
